Orchestra
Our orchestra is made up of members of Years 3 - 6 who are proficient in playing a musical instrument. We rehearse every Tuesday morning at 8.30am and then play in assembly straight afterwards.
We have a wide variety of instruments: recorder (descant & tenor), flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, cello, cornet, trumpet, tenor horn, trombone, euphonium and snare drum playing in the orchestra. We gain additional members throughout the year but especially in the summer term, when most of our Year 5 instrumentalists reach the necessary standard to join the orchestra and on occasions some very enthusiastic recorder players have joined the orchestra while still in Year 2.

In 2011, the orchestra played an Overture for the performances of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' in April which was a great success.
Some groups of instrumentalists from the orchestra played in a concert at St. Andrew's Handbridge URC with Cantabile and choir. Then there was a concert by the orchestra and choir in May in the school hall.
Our orchestra in the school year 2012-13 worked hard to build up their repertoire and performed, along with Cantabile and choir in a concert for parents (in school) at the beginning of the summer term. At the end of the year we welcomed lots of new members to the orchestra and actually numbered over 100 members by July. At the beginning of a next school year (2013-14) we started with the biggest orchestra we had ever had in any September so far, There were also concerts in school in April & June 2014; March & June 2015 involving either the orchestra or instrumental groups. In March 2016 many of our instrumental groups played in a concert for St. Mary's Church along with both of our choirs.
We play in assembly each week but also work towards concerts (with the choir or Cantabile) which take place in school at various times when they can be arranged to fit in with all the other events in a busy school calendar.
